How a family gift registry works

One private list for every Christmas plan

HackSanta gives parents a simple way to organize gift ideas without turning the family experience into a public shopping profile.

01

Create a wishlist

Make a separate list for a child, family member, or Christmas exchange.

02

Add product links

Paste a retailer URL, review the details, and add any information the retailer missed.

03

Share its private link

Send the unique wishlist URL to the relatives and friends you choose.

04

Coordinate claims

Guests can claim a gift so other visitors know someone is handling it.

Private sharing

Share each wishlist with intention

Every wishlist has its own unique URL. Send only the list that applies to that relative, friend, or family group. If you regenerate a link, the old link stops working.

Gift claims

Keep the surprise, lose the duplicates

Claiming a gift tells other visitors that someone plans to handle it. The gift remains visible, the retailer link still works, and the wishlist owner can see the claimer's name.

Designed around real gifting

What parents and guests can expect

Multiple named wishlists
Optional greetings and gift notes
Retailer details filled from URLs when available
Manual corrections when a retailer leaves details out
Reordering and removing gifts
Owner previews with claim names
Store links that remain usable after a claim
Unique links that can be regenerated

Gift registry questions

What is a Christmas gift registry?+

A Christmas gift registry is a shareable collection of gift ideas. HackSanta lets parents create separate private wishlists and send each wishlist's unique link to selected relatives and friends.

Can I make a separate wishlist for each child?+

Yes. Parents can create multiple wishlists, give each one its own name and greeting, and add the gifts that belong on that list.

Do relatives buy gifts through HackSanta?+

No. Each gift links to the retailer selected by the wishlist creator. Guests can visit that retailer to complete the purchase outside HackSanta.

How does HackSanta help prevent duplicate gifts?+

A guest can claim a gift and enter their name. Other visitors see that the gift has been claimed, while the wishlist owner can see who claimed it.

Are HackSanta gift wishlists private?+

Each wishlist uses a unique sharing link. It is intended for the relatives and friends who receive that link rather than for public browsing or search indexing.

Can a guest still visit the store after a gift is claimed?+

Yes. The retailer button remains available after a gift is claimed, so the person coordinating the gift can still open the product page.
